Wellbeing is an important focus at Murrabit Group School and is embedded into our everyday teaching and learning. Each day, we dedicate time from 2:20 pm to 2:30 pm to support students’ wellbeing through mindfulness, reflection, and positive practices. These wellbeing sessions, along with our other wellbeing programs, are led by Mrs Natalie Goudie-Troy who is the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader at Murrabit Group School, Natalie plays a key role in supporting and guiding students in developing their social and emotional skills.

In addition to this daily focus, students also engage in the statewide Respectful Relationships Program, which provides explicit opportunities to build social, emotional, and relationship skills. The program runs from Foundation to Year 6 and covers eight key topics, with each topic explored in age-appropriate ways at different year levels.

For Term 4, 2024, our focus has been on Gender & Identity (Weeks 1–6) and Positive Gender Relations (Weeks 7–11). More information about the Respectful Relationships Program can be found here. https://www.vic.gov.au/respectful-relationships

To further strengthen wellbeing, we introduced the Smiling Mind Program in 2023, which helps students develop mindfulness, emotional regulation, and resilience through guided activities and reflections. We have also implemented The Resilience Project, which focuses on building gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness to support positive mental health. https://theresilienceproject.com.au/
